FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded): EX: The article cites Maria Nikolajeva, a professor of at Cambridge, as saying that Bella does not "in any way promote independent thinking or personal development" in women, instead portraying a woman "meek and willing to do anything for her vampire boyfriend" (POV). |
Teen Mom is a reality tv show that explains what life can be like if you are a young mother "It's letting them understand for themselves and make better decisions in their lives." |
Many people believe that "the series encourages teenage girls to become pregnant" but they overlooked the meaning for having a reality tv show about teenage pregnancy. |
I think teenagers after watching the reality tv show do not come out saying "this is easy and this is glamorous and this is something I want to do in my own life." |
Obviously all four the teen mothers on this show we all know "these girls are struggling" which brings to the point of having this tv show is to know that having a child at young age does have a lot of effect on your life and a lot of change. |
"There are shows like this showing teenagers how hard it really is" to deal with all the changes you have for a young teenager that has to go through other challenges of being a young adult also. |
Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):
This article brings out information about the thoughts of people thinking the reality tv show of teen mom is glamorized. Their are different sources on the article some of the negative things people say but talk about it explaining why the tv show is a positive thing for teens.
Credibility of Source:
Author or Site: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the site. What is the purpose of the site? Who funds the site?
The author is Katie Kindelan and Jennifer Pereira and they are writing a article about their opinion but the site is abc news which is a good source for having facts about the issues.
Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?
The author is writing to just bring out information about peoples thoughts of the reality tv show. The authors don't seem like they are wanting anything back to benefit themselves just information about the show many people believe.
Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?
There isn't much bias becuase this article does talk about the negative and positive. The article talks about the critizism people say about the tv show but then back it up explaining a positive reason.
References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?
The authors used quotes or interviews from the teen mom themselves that helps the article better by having actual opinions from the teen mothers which makes the cite stronger.
Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?
I plan to use this source by bringing out the meaning that teen mom is a good show to watch for teens and it does not glamorize the show in any way.
