FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):
EX: The article cites Maria Nikolajeva, a professor of at Cambridge, as saying that Bella does not "in any way promote independent thinking or personal development" in women, instead portraying a woman "meek and willing to do anything for her vampire boyfriend" (POV).

Even though people have thought Teen Mom has been protrayed as glamorized it has " teen pregnancy dropped about 40 percent" (POV).
People believe the show doesn't teach teens anything but "It just shows this could happen to you" (POV).
When people have to say Teen Mom isn't showing the issues but showing fame as Kramer said  "To say that these shows are glorifying teen pregnancy is like saying The Biggest Loser is glorifying obesity" (POV).

Not only did the show tell teen girls what can happen but also teen fathers ""It showed me I'd need to be there for my son" as Miguel Tostado has said. (POV).

Teen Mom does protray a great way of how your life can just change in a instant " the sacrifices teen moms had to make — things like the prom, parties and just hanging out that are no longer feasible" (POV).

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):
The article brings how Teen Mom is protrayed and a positive meaning of why the show is even on televison knowing all the negativity. The sources were talking to people who then realized that they need to be a good parent or how much work their is for being pregnant at a young age because of shows like Teen Mom.

Credibility of Source:
Author or Site: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the site. What is the purpose of the site? Who funds the site?

Karen Grigsby Bates is the author of this article.

Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?

Having to talk about what's "in" gossip and such this article still exams the importance of the show and the meaning of it.

Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?

Their is a bias towards writing the positive side of Teen Mom.

References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?

The author does cite references in her writing and it doesn't take away from the credibility because it helps with the facts of Teen Mom.

Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?
I will use this source in my project by explaining some of the positive ideas of Teen Mom and how it's a great way of showing teens some of the problems they can go through if they become parents at a early age.

Senior Project Proposal

What about this topic appeals to you? Why did you choose it?
This topic appeals to me because I get to understand a whole new life change and what teens need to understand might happen. I chose it because its a common issue throughout the world that needs more facts.
What do you already know about this subject?
I already know that teenage pregnancy is high among teens.

What are you hoping to learn about the subject?
I am hoping to learn others perspectives on why its common among teens.

What are you most interested in regarding the topic?
I am interested in showing teens that is not easy and it's not a fairytale after the pregnancy and not only causes issues among yourself and changes but also your surroundings.
What potential risks or challenges do you foresee for your project?
some risks can be not finding the right amount of sources.

1. I believe that drugs should be shown as more of a negative way then a 'fun' way.
2. I believe that bullying should be discussed more and how it can affect someone.
3. I believe that cliques shouldn't be shown as the way schools are suppose to be.
4. I believe that greed should be shown more in a negative way.
5. I believe that teenage pregnancy should be talked about more just like the tv show teen mom which shows the problems involved. Many teenagers believe now that it will be a perfectly fine once they have the child. Teenagers like in teen mom show all the problems they go through and people need to look past all that 'fame' they get because how else is the message suppose to be sent across. Most teens don't listen to teachers or parents anymore but tv and music so if that is the only way to show it then they should take advantage of that. People do look at the show negatively but it's the only way to look at the problems that happens during and after a teenagers pregnancy that teenagers will actually pay attention to.
